Noise Pop Mix Tape
the red thread The Red Thread
"Ten is a tough number. Basically, I picked one song each off ten albums that are among my current favorites. It's an eclectic mix, so I'm not sure how great it will translate to a "mix tape" format, but you can judge that for yourself. I've included newish tunes from Califone and The Reigning Sound, and plenty of older tunes that I still can't get enough of."
- Jason Lakis, The Red Thread

About the Band
The Red Thread is a band based in sunny Oakland, CA. The band consists of Jason Lakis, Mike Schmiedt, Dan Martin and Daryle Goldfarb. I'm not good at talking about what we sound like, so here's an album review by Marc Starr from flux (uk),"Using a lap-steel means these Californians are put in the alt-country pigeonhole with Wilco, et al. Unfair. This has an appealing early Talking Heads-style sense of melody that captures forlorn emotions without sounding wishy-washy. That's a rare skill these days. Few bands win me over by having a dog that looks like a fish on their web site. TRT did."

Last year we put out our first full-length entitled After The Last on the Badman Recording Company label. We played locally as well as doing a national tour in the spring of 2003. We plan to get back out on tour this spring (2004) to support our new album.
