Northern California Public Broadcasting Merger
How Your Estate Plan Gift Does Even More
In 2006, KQED merged with public television stations KTEH (San Jose) and KQET (Watsonville/Salinas/Monterey) to become Northern California Public Broadcasting, Inc. (NCPB). NCPB is the governing entity for all of the stations. As a result, all legal agreements, including formal legacy gift designations, are in the name Northern California Public Broadcasting, Inc. KQED Public Television, KTEH Public Television, and KQED Public Radio continue, of course, to operate under their respective call letters, as they did prior to the merger.
The merger combined the resources of the individual stations, creating efficiencies and cost savings that make possible increased local production and community and educational outreach services. This has led, in turn, to more and better high-quality programming throughout the region. Now your estate plan gift will help ensure that these programs and services will be even more widely available to future generations of Northern Californians.
