KQED Radio Staff

Gabriel Coan
Senior Editor, Online Content

Gabriel got his first taste of radio in high school, where he made the morning announcements each day over the public address system. With his partner, Kevin, Gabriel informed, entertained, and annoyed the students and faculty with a mix of school news, music, and half-witted comedy bits. Gabriel did not attend his high school reunion.

After studying broadcasting in college, Gabriel made a move to online media by taking a job with Yahoo!. Over a span of eight years, Gabriel edited for many of Yahoo!'s sites including Y! News, Entertainment, and the home page. In 2007, he returned to radio -- albeit in a less glamorous, off-mic role -- when he joined KQED.

Gabriel is a Knight Digital Media fellow and is the self-proclaimed mayor of the five-block radius surrounding his apartment.
