KQED Undertakes Corporate Affinity Program to Forge New and Dynamic Bay Area Partnerships

Noted Filmmaker Ken Burns to Host Reception for New Business Allies

BayView Bank to Sponsor First Annual KQED Corporate Affiliates Evening

San Francisco, California, December 12, 2001 -- Recognizing a shifting and ever-morphing business and economic landscape, KQED Public Broadcasting has realigned its business partners program and is kicking off the new venture with a special reception with icon filmmaker Ken Burns. The Thursday, January 3 evening with Ken Burns -- presented by BayView Bank -- will be an intimate gathering of business leaders just prior to Burns' Mark Twain preview with City Arts & Lectures at the Herbst Theatre at 8 p.m. Mark Twain is Burns' new two-part, four-hour documentary airing Monday and Tuesday, January 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. on KQED Public Television 9.

"Sponsorship on KQED -- through television, radio, the Web, education programs or events -- is an effective, targeted and unique branding opportunity for the business and arts community," noted Donald Derheim, KQED vice president of marketing. "We hope that our reinvigorated KQED Corporate Affinity Program will provide us with a venue to work together with our partners to benefit each other, KQED members, and partner clients and customers, providing an integrated and connected sense of community through public media."

KQED's Corporate Affiliates are among the leading companies in the Bay Area, displaying a dedication to innovation, active community involvement and educational opportunities for all citizens. Corporate affiliates contribute from $100 to $50,000 annually, donating matching funds, or challenge grants, that ensure the success of KQED pledge drives, and encouraging employee donations through a matching gifts program. KQED partners receive on-air acknowledgements and recognition; insider email bulletins of programs and events that impact the region's industry and workforce; invitations to meet other business leaders and public broadcasting luminaries; and the opportunity to build an invaluable network with other affiliates. For information on being a KQED Corporate Affiliate, call (415) 553-2827.
