Tech Giants Launch Global Partnership to Spread Web Access

The majority of the world's population remains without easy access to the Internet.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says he's on a mission to change that, with the launch of Internet.org. He described it as a partnership between Facebook and other major tech players, such as Samsung and Ericcson, to bring web access to approximately five billion people.
Zuckerberg argues that connectivity is a human right, but some disagree. Bill Gates, for example, criticized Google for focusing on making connectivity a priority when so many people are suffering form life and death issues like malaria.
KQED's Stephanie Martin spoke with Paul Saffo, managing director of foresight at Discern Analytics, about the ambitious plan.
