Environmentalist Coalition Files Lawsuit Against Plan Bay Area Agencies
On Monday, a coalition of environmentalists filed a lawsuit against the agencies behind Plan Bay Area, a long-term transportation and land-use strategy adopted last month.
The groups accuse the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Association of Bay Area Governments of focusing too much on building new highways and not enough on public transportation.
Earthjustice, Communities for a Better Environment and the Sierra Club were the groups who filed the suit in Alameda County Superior Court. What are they hoping to gain from the litigation?
Reporter Stephanie Martin spoke with Irene Gutierrez, an attorney with Earthjustice.
