Recology Artists Find Their Muse in Discarded Materials
Listen to the audio:
Bottle caps, torn newspaper and bits of styrofoam may look like junk you. But to some artists, they're pure inspiration.
San Francisco-based Recology -- the city's waste disposal company -- has hosted an artist-in-residence program for more than 20 years. Host Stephanie Martin and Sharon Spain, one of the program's curators, visited Terminal 3 of San Francisco International Airport. There, travelers enjoy more than 100 pieces now on display.
Unless you work at SFO or plan to fly United sometime soon, you won't have access to the exhibit -- but Recology has the full show on its website.
