In hockey, the San Francisco Bulls, part of the East Coast Hockey League and unaffected by the NHL lockout, were defeated by the Idaho Steelheads 2-1Thursday night at the Cow Palace. Peter Sivak scored the only goal for the Bulls, and Taylor Nelson made 29 saves.
In professional basketball, the Kings hometown crowd put aside chatter about a move to Seattle and got into the game. Sean Cunningham, a reporter for Kings radio tweeted that, "The subdued feeling...has been completely wiped away by an absolute boisterous atmosphere from the Sactown faithful." The Kings lost to the Mavericks 117-112 in overtime.
The Portland Trail Blazers are in Oakland Friday night to play the Warriors. The Kings host Miami on Saturday.
In college hoops, Gonzaga won over St. Mary's, 83-78. USF lost to San Diego, 70-66.
Cal hosts Washington State, St. Mary's host the Dons and Stanford hosts Washington, all games are Saturday.
And in football, the 49ers host the Green Bay Packers Saturday for a divisional playoff game at Candlestick.
