Bay Area Puts Up Strong Jobs Numbers

September was a very good month for job growth in California, and especially the Bay Area.

The state boasted the lowest unemployment rate in more than three-and-a-half years. California's Employment Development Department says the state unemployment rate dropped to 10.2 percent -- down nearly half a point.

Jobless rates fell throughout the Bay Area. The news was especially good in the East Bay, where the rate dropped seven tenths of a percent from August, to 8.5 percent.

What is the Bay Area doing right?

Host Cy Musiker talks with Jordan Levine, who directs economic research at Beacon Economics, a firm that does research for both private and state clients including the state controller.
