Campaign Money Pours into California Contests
The Republican party is out with some new attack ads against several Northern California democrats. The ads are just the beginning of what promises to be a media onslaught in the coming weeks leading up to the November 6 election.
One ad by the National Republican Congressional Committee links Democratic Congressman Jerry McNerneny to the Obama administration's loan to the now bankrupt Solyndra Solar company.
That ad's nearly half million dollar price tag is just a fraction of the $8 million the GOP is shelling out for television ads statewide.
The Republican Committee's Daniel Scarpinato says most of that is slated for several highly competative contests in both the Sacramento area and the San Joaquin Valley.
"That's more than has ever been spent by republicans in California, ever," says Scarpinato.
Democrats and allied groups are also turning on the spigot. They've spent $2 million so far targeting Republicans Dan Lungren in Sacramento and Jeff Denhem in Modesto.
