Sports Roundup

In sports, the A's lost to the Tigers in Detroit, 6-2, a better showing than Tuesday's punishing game.

Detroit's win brings the Tigers' Miguel Cabrera one step closer to baseball's Triple Crown: the player with the league's top batting average, home runs and RBI's.

The last time a major leaguer had the Triple Crown was 45 years ago.

The Giants beat the Rockies, 7-1.  San Francisco is five games away from clinching their division.

Both series continue today.

In professional soccer, the Earthquakes had a 2-2 draw with the Portland Timbers in Santa Clara.
