Mobile Home Park May Close
HOST: Palo Alto's only mobile-home park faces shutdown. KQED's Peter Jon Shuler reports the 117-unit Buena Vista Mobile Home Park.... is one of the last enclaves of affordable housing in the city.
PETER JON SHULER: Residents of Buena Vista recently got a letter from owner Jim Jisser to inform them the family is exploring redevelopment options. Son Joe Jisser says the family is still in preliminary discussions with Prometheus Real Estate Group of San Mateo.
JOE JISSER: "Dad's just getting older and he's managed it for many, many year it's just time for him to move on."
SHULER: Jisser says the infrastructure upgrades needed to bring the park to code are more than the family wants to take on. Buena Vista residents such as Mary Kear worry about what this will mean for them.
MARY KEAR: "I'm concerned about all the people here because this is a low income. People don't have other places to go. There's mentally challenged here. There's physically challenged."
SHULER: Any redevelopment would be subject to city approval. I'm Peter Jon Shuler, KQED News.
