State Recalls Products from Organic Pastures Dairy

California is recalling raw dairy products produced by Fresno's Organic Pastures Dairy. The Department of Food and Agriculture has ordered that raw milk, raw skim milk and raw cream not be allowed to leave the facility.

People who have raw dairy products from Organic Pastures labelled with the date of September 13 should throw them out, and store managers should pull them from shelves.

CDFA officials found bacteria while conducting a routine inspection on Wednesday. Food and Agriculture spokesman Style Lyle says that while the bacteria may cause illness, most people recover completely.

"If illness is going to strike, it's going to strike about 2 to 5 days after exposure to the bacteria," Lyle said. "Illness can last about a week. It's usually mild, however."

Lyle said that as of Thursday evening, no one had gotten sick from any of the recalled products.
