Obama and Romney Visit Bay Area to Raise Campaign Funds
President Obama makes another fundraising swing through the Bay Area Monday.
The stops include a $35,000-a-head reception at a home in Piedmont, followed by a larger event at the Fox Theater in Oakland, where the minimum ticket price is $100.
San Francisco Chronicle senior political writer Carla Marinucci says we're not likely to see either the President or his Republican rival Mitt Romney making any free appearances in California during the campaign season.
"California has been the leading source of campaign funds for both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama," Marinucci says, "and, for that reason, we see them here for pay-to-play events; we do not see them here for public events."
Romney spent Sunday in the Bay Area, at high-priced fundraisers in Woodside and San Francisco.
