Students Post Photos of State Test Online
San Jose Unified School District officials are launching an investigation into two students posting online photos of the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) exam. One student attends Castillero Middle School, the other is from San Jose High.
State education officials say the students shared photos of the standardized test on Facebook, Tumblr and other sites. Students at eight other schools around California posted similar photos.
Schools where students shared the photos may have their state test scores invalidated and face financial sanctions.
San Jose Unified Assistant Superintendent Jason Willis says the students may face disciplinary action.
"This is a new situation for San Jose in terms of this kind of a security breach. We do have discipline procedure here in place for those students," Willis said. "And so, as we gather those facts, we're likely to walk through those steps and make a wise and rational decision about that."
Willis says district teachers may also need more training. He says they should have enforced the district’s no-electronic-device policy during testing.
State education officials are now delaying the release of statewide test scores until all investigations are complete.
