The Promise of Carbon Capture

Scientists and delegates from nearly 200 nations continue their work in Copenhagen, wrestling with how to cut carbon emissions and slow global warming. Many are banking on an experimental technology called "carbon capture" -- taking carbon emitted by industrial activity and pumping it back into the ground. In the second part of our series on carbon sequestration, we look at the technology's promise -- and pitfalls.

Yosemite Fires Have Greenhouse Gas Link

Yosemite National Park has been scarred by several big fires in recent years, the latest contained less than two months ago. New research suggests Yosemite is likely to face even more fire in its future, and the reasons include climate change.

California Hosts Climate Summit

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger kicked off the second Global Climate Summit yesterday in Los Angeles. It's a three-day conference, featuring panelists from around the world discussing what are known as "subnational" strategies to cut carbon emissions.

Carbon Offsets at the Airport

Memorial Day weekend signals the start of the summer travel season, and that means a lot of fossil fuel burned on the road or in the air. Coming soon to California airports are kiosks where passengers will be able to 'offset' their share of a flight's CO2 emissions -- for a cost.
