How do I submit an image to the Local Life gallery?
Submitting an image to the gallery is easy:
1. Read about the current theme for which we are accepting submissions.
2. Complete the brief submission form. This allows us to get in touch with you if we have questions about your submission. It also grants us permission to post your image on the KQED.org site.
3. Upload your file for consideration.
4. You'll get a confirmation email from us as soon as your file has been received.
5. If your image is chosen for the gallery, we'll send an email to let you know that you can see your work at KQED.org.
We can't guarantee that your work will be included in the gallery -- like the rest of the real estate in the Bay Area, KQED.org space is at a premium. We can promise you, however, that all submissions are given careful consideration. Our homepage editor reviews every submitted image to ensure that it's appropriate to the current theme and meets KQED editorial and visual criteria.
In addition to appearing in the Local Life area on the homepage, posted images can also be seen in a larger format in our gallery, along with your name and your description of the image.
Do I still own the rights to my image after I submit it?
Absolutely. You retain the copyright to your image (and anything else you submit to KQED.org). However, when you submit materials to the site, you will need to grant us permission to use the image in all markets and media, and guarantee that you own all rights to it. If you haven't licensed all parts of the image, we won't be able to use it.
Nope, sorry. We don't pay for submissions to the site. Your participation is strictly on a volunteer -- and bragging rights -- basis. Your reward is having hundreds of thousands of people get a glimpse of your perspective on Northern California life.
