Lessons from the Bay Bridge Closure
CalTrans engineers and contractors are
continuing their work to reopen the Bay Bridge. The
agency has reported progress in installing an upgraded
system of tie rods and steel plates to a damaged bridge
support. But the Bay Bridge closure has severely tested
the region's transportation system -- and prompted many
to think about its future.
