The Great ShakeOut
More than 1 million people in Northern
California took part in the Great California ShakeOut
today. The event, staged as we near the 20th anniversary
of the Loma Prieta earthquake, featured a mass stop,
drop and cover exercise. It was designed to raise
awareness and to prompt public agencies and private
companies to take a look at their emergency plans.
