Protesting and Defending John Yoo
Students returned for the first day of classes at UC Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law today, and they were greeted by protesters
demanding the dismissal of Professor John Yoo. After 9/11, Yoo served as a lawyer in the Justice Department. He is one of
the authors of memos that set out the Bush administration's legal justification for torturing terrorism suspects. But Yoo
has his defenders at Berkeley, even among those who decry his conclusions about torture and executive power.
