Isaias Hellman, a poor German Jewish immigrant, arrived in California in 1859, and became one of the wealthiest and most influential men in the state. He played a vital role in the development of Wells Fargo Bank, the University of Southern California and many other state institutions. We speak with two of Hellman's descendants, including his great-great granddaughter who has written a new biography of this under-appreciated figure in California history.
