Port Pollution
Port Pollution -- Much of what we eat and buy comes through the port of Oakland, the second largest port in the state. But
the convenience of these imported goods comes at a price: the health of port-side residents in places like west Oakland. The
California Air Board has undertaken what it calls one of the most thorough air pollution studies ever done to find out just
how much diesel soot is produced by every ship, tug boat and truck serving the port of Oakland.
