Pacific Time 2007-05-10 : A Hawaiian Actor and Hula Dancer Brings His Show to New York
Listen Listen (RealMedia stream)
When most people think of hula, they think of a woman in a grass skirt. But it was men who first performed the sacred dances, before Hawaii's monarchy was overthrown in 1893. Actor and hula dancer Keo Woolford has taken on the challenge of spreading the word about the men of hula. He has combined his talents for hula, music and acting into the one-man play "I Land," produced by Ma-Yi Theater Company in New York.
