The Winter Fest runs from March 6 - 15, 2013. For tickets and more information, visit sanjosejazz.org.

Dead Metaphor

February 28 - March 24, 2013
A.C.T.

You would think that a play about war, divorce, terminal illness, and murder would be a big bummer, but Canadian playwright George F. Walker proves that assumption dead wrong with his dark comedy, Dead Metaphor. The play runs through March 24th. For tickets and more information, visit act-sf.org.

Fallaci

March 8 - April 21, 2013
Berkeley Rep

Pulitzer Prize-winner Lawrence Wright brings a story about Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci, who made a name for herself with her groundbreaking interviews with leaders like Castro, Khomeini, and Qaddafi, to the stage. The play runs from March 8th through April 21st at the Berkeley Rep. For tickets and more information, visit berkeleyrep.org.

The Secret Garden

Zellerbach Hall

The San Francisco Opera and Cal Performances are joining forces for the world premiere of Nolan Gasser and Carey Harrison's adaptation of The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett's story about a spoiled girl who helps revive a sick boy and a forgotten garden. Take your inner child to see it at Zellerbach Hall on the Berkeley campus this weekend and the next. For tickets and more information, visit calperfs.berkeley.edu.

Tamim Ansary and WritersCorps

March 7, 2013
Contemporary Jewish Museum

Something for the bookworms out there: Local author Tamim Ansary reads from West of Kabul, East of New York, his memoir about his family's immigration from Afghanistan to San Francisco, alongside youth poets from the WritersCorps program. WHY?

March 5 - 6, 2013
New Parish and Great American Music Hall

Berkeley-based artist Yoni Wolf has used WHY? as his stage name since 1997, but has lent the name to his music project with his brother and some friends since 2004. Currently on a national tour, the boys are heading back to the Bay Area for two nights at the New Parish and GAMH on March 5th and 6th.
