San Francisco is hosting three eye-popping photography exhibits at the moment. First up is Cindy Sherman, who is bringing her highly quirky self-portraits to SFMoMA on Saturday and continues through October. Then there's surrealist power couple Man Ray and Lee Miller at the Legion of Honor starting Saturday and running through October 14, 2012. And finally there's the influential Garry Winogrand at the Fraenkel Gallery through August 12, 2012.

Aaron Novik

Contemporary Jewish Museum

On his new album Secret of Secrets, clarinetist and composer Aaron Novik explores the world of Jewish mysticism through the writings of Eleazar of Worms, a mystic and rabbi who explored hidden meanings in sacred Jewish texts. With help from a large ensemble, Novik will play music from his new CD on Sunday at 3pm at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco. For more information, visit thecjm.org.

San Francisco Jewish Film Festival

The Jewish Film Fest is celebrating its 32nd birthday! Things kicks off with Hava Nagila, a foot-tapping celebration of 100 years of Jewish culture, which is followed by an Opening Night Bash at Cafe du Nord. Upright Grand

Palo Alto's Theatreworks premieres its new season with Laura Schellhardt's Upright Grand, a play about what happens when a pianist father is surpassed by his protégé daughter. Upright Grand is in previews tonight, and opens tomorrow night at Theatreworks at the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto.
