Works/San José was founded in 1977 by local artists and functions primarily as a volunteer organization offering its members exhibition, curatorial and performing opportunities. They moved into their new South First Street location in April 2007 and continue to support emerging and established artists who are experimenting in visual, performance, new media, installation and interdisciplinary arts.
Housewarming from May 29 through July 20, 2007 is Works/San José's annual members exhibition featuring pieces by more than 200 artists including work by featured artists: Antonio Castro, Terry Acebo-Davis, Charlotte Kruk N'Kempken, Jennifer Levy, Kent Manske + Nanette Wylde, Stephanie Metz, Valerie Raps, and Ema Harris-Sintamarian.
