Anno Domini
View Gallery Crawl video of Anno Domini's solo exhibition of Daniel Jesse Lewis's work from February 2 through March 16, 2007. (Running Time: 7:18)
Cherri Lakey and Brian Eder are considered the pioneers of San Jose's artistic community by heading up successful projects as Phantom Galleries, Saturday Art Market and South First Fridays. In 2000, the inexhaustible duo opened Anno Domini to host regular events that meld art with music, performance, fashion, and any other given element of contemporary urban culture. Since then, their gallery has been able to boast exhibiting the work of now well-known (but then considered "emerging") street artists such as Shepard Fairey, David Choe, DAVe, and Sirron Norris.
Exemplary of Anno Domini's focus is the work of Daniel Jesse Lewis, whose solo debut exhibit is on view from February 2 through March 16, 2007. Bay Area artist Lewis graduated from the California College of the Arts in 2004, but his paintings and drawings have a definite "outsider art" lean. His work reveals an obsessive attention to and understanding of the human condition -- this is particularly true in his centerpiece mural which shares its title with show, "Everything, All At Once, All Day Long."
