There are a number of fine San Francisco institutions that have community-oriented galleries that are nice break from the ones that are trying to make a profit. In March 2007, Gallery Crawl visited a couple of group shows in these non-commercial spaces including "Present Tense" at the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco and "World Factory" at the San Francisco Art Institute.

Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco

Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco (CCC) exhibits a group show called Present Tence (March 2 through May 19, 2007) surveying the work of young emerging Chinese American artists.

Walter and McBean Galleries at SFAI

San Francisco Art Institute's group exhibit Resistance and Dreams is phase 2 of World Factory, which runs from January 25 through April 21, 2007 and showcases the work of more than 30 international artists.
