Thomas Reardon, a real life criminal court judge, says portraying a con man came naturally to him. In The Music Man, Reardon plays fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill who cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian (Tina-Maria Garcia), who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.
