MainStage Performance Ensemble celebrates its sixth season with a special original musical theater performance of Siddhartha, the Bright Path, about the life of the man who became known as Buddha.
MYT's production features a parallel story of a San Francisco girl, facing many of the dilemmas Siddhartha faced in his path to relieve human suffering. Siddhartha, The Bright Path features Indian music and dance, along with original songs written for this prodcution. This show is suitable for all ages.
MainStage Performance Ensemble is for 5th-9th graders who are ready to engage in and commit to the challenges and rewards of a full-scale theater performance workshop. MainStage students have an exhilarating experience in drama, dance, music and art as they rotate through classes taught by award-winning theater artists. Over the course of fourteen weeks, participants experience the joy of collaborating with other young artists and becoming part of a unique performing troupe. The world premiere of Siddhartha, The Bright Path is funded in part by the San Francisco Arts Commission Cultural Equity Program and the Children's Theater Foundation of America.
