Live This Month: September 2012
Listen to the Bay Bridged mix of music by bands playing the Bay Area this month, including Weekend, Sic Alps, Exray's, Holograms, Nude Beach and more.
September is overflowing with compelling live music choices -- so many in fact, a bunch of significant concerts didn't make the podcast. Of the picks that did make the cut, however, our top pick is our fifth annual Rock Make Street Festival, which brings 70 arts and crafts vendors and twelve local bands to 18th Street and Treat Avenue in the Mission District on September 15th for an all-day celebration of local creativity. We're really proud of this annual favorite, and this year's installment probably features our best lineup to date, including John Vanderslice, Tartufi, Exray's, Burnt Ones, and many more.
Of course, Rock Make's not the only festival hitting the Bay this month, as the Mission Creek Oakland Music and Arts Festival returns with an expanded array of great locally-focused concerts in a variety of East Bay venues and performance spaces. Speaking of Oakland, I'd recommend you head there after Rock Make ends on September 15th to see Weekend's farewell show at the Uptown. The shoegazey rock trio aren't breaking up, but they are moving to New York, and it's sad to say goodbye to one of our favorite local bands. With a new album coming soon, though, this probably won't be the last we see of them around these parts.
As always, enjoy the mix and then go see some shows!
