KQED Internships
"SPARK" Television Production Internship

Terms Available:
Winter Term: September–December
Spring Term: January–April
Summer Term: May–August

Internship Summary:
"SPARK" is a weekly television series that began airing on KQED in March 2003. "SPARK" is a local show - both in content and distribution - casting a spotlight on Bay Area visual and performing artists and arts organizations. "SPARK" is seeking 1-2 interns to participate directly with staff to assist in developing and producing our program. We require of each intern, a minimum of 16 hours a week, on a regularly established schedule that takes into account the intern's academic schedule. We will only select students who can earn course credit at the college level (no exceptions); BEFORE applying, students are required to inquire if they can receive course credit from their counselors, major department heads, or professors in order to be considered! Once a college student has been accepted for the internship, the individual may provide "Proof of Credit" or a signed verification form from an a counselor, major department head, or professor before starting the KQED internshp program. A verification form obtained from the Human Resources department is also required upon acceptance into the KQED internship.
Internship Duties:
go Researches arts related topics, as assigned.
go Organizes and logs tapes and proposals.
go Accompanies field producers on remote shoots.
go Enters data in FileMaker Pro database.
go Organizes and prepares mailings and special events.
go Makes phone calls, as requested.
go Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Internship Qualifications:
go Strong organizational and research skills.
go Knowledge of Bay Area arts organizations, artists and events.
go Experience with Filemaker Pro, MS Word, Excel a plus.
go Willing to learn.
go Strong oral and written communication skills.
