SPARK Interactive Outreach and Marketing Internship

Internship Summary:
"SPARK" is a three-tiered project highlighting Bay Area art and artists, including a weekly television program, a Web site, and educational outreach. The "SPARK" Web site is updated on a weekly basis. The "Spark" Interactive Outreach and Marketing Intern assists the "SPARK" Interactive Producer to market the "SPARK" Web site to arts organizations and community boards in order to increase traffic to the "SPARK" Web site and promote the "SPARK" project. We will only select students who can earn course credit at the college level (no exceptions); BEFORE applying, students are required to inquire if they can receive course credit from their counselors, major department heads, or professors in order to be considered! Be specific in the internship(s) of interest, ability to receive course credit as a college student (no exceptions), and available term within the body of the cover letter. Resumes and cover letters are required from students to apply for KQED internships. All internships are non-paid. Once a college student has been accepted for the internship, the individual may provide "Proof of Credit" or a signed verification form from a counselor, major department head, or professor before starting the KQED internship program. A verification form obtained from the Human Resources department is also required upon acceptance into the KQED internship.
Internship Duties:
- Coordinates with the artists and arts organizations profiled on "SPARK" to promote their "SPARK" appearance and the "SPARK" Web site.
- Promotes the "SPARK" Web site in new, creative ways.
- Creates and implements outreach strategies to promote the "SPARK" project through the Web.
- Locates additional resources to list on the "SPARK" Web site for Bay Area artists and art patrons.
- Other projects as assigned.
Internship Qualifications:
- Art History, Fine Arts, or Marketing majors strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Bay Area arts organizations, artists, and issues.
- Strong organizational and research skills.
- Ability to work independently on tight deadlines and to balance multiple projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as strong experience conducting online research.
- Understanding of Web statistics helpful.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn basic HTML a plus.
