Interactive Internship

Internship Summary:
KQED's Interactive department develops content and applications for digital platforms including the Web, interactive television and mobile devices. Since 1994, KQED.org has provided users with a place to interact, learn more, and connect with others on the issues and topics explored on radio and television. This is an exciting opportunity to help contribute to one of the most popular Web sites in public broadcasting. KQED.org is committed to deliver high-quality, non-commercial media that informs, educates and entertains, to an increasingly wider audience through the development of original online content.
Internship Duties:
go Searches the Web & directories for relevant, quality content (podcasts, video, blogs, etc.).
go Performs data entry for the digital asset management application.
go Generates spreadsheets reflecting site wide Web traffic statistics and trends.
go Creates basic instruction guides for media work stations.
go Compresses and encodes media files for streaming or downloading.
go Edits programs to be podcast-ready, using Final Cut Pro or similar software.
go Tracks and repairs broken links.
go Manipulates images in Photoshop.
go Reports on local events.
go Performs other duties as assigned.
Internship Qualifications:
go Strong organizational and research skills.
go Ability to work independently according to tight deadlines and to balance multiple assignments.
go Interest in exploring features unique to the Interactive medium.
go Highly motivated individuals with excellent oral and written communication skills.
go Computer skills, including Microsoft Word as well as strong experience doing online research. The ideal candidate also has knowledge of Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, video compression tools, and basic HTML.
go Understanding of Web statistics helpful.
