Life of the Law

Audio currently not available for this program.

On Saturday night, Dec 5, 2015 inmates, returning inmates, volunteers, officers, and staff filled the pews of the San Quentin Prison chapel to tell stories of the all-too-secret community that sustains each of them, inside and outside, the prison walls. Life of the Law took their live show to San Quentin State Prison for a first ever night of uncensored stories by inmates and returning inmates, staff, and volunteers about the community that sustains them. Standing before an audience of more than 200 fellow inmates and free people, all cleared by prison officials to go inside the walls of the prison, the men stood one by one in the prison chapel and told stories of isolation and hope. In this Life of the Law special, we bring you stories from six of those men: Lawrence Pela, Watani Stiner, Azraal Ford, Aaron Taylor, Phil Melendez, and Emile DeWeaver.
