Mirkarimi Hearings ... Largest Cargo Ship
Mirkarimi Ethics Hearings Will Be Televised, Open to Public
The public will have a chance to weigh in on misconduct charges against San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi. The hearings before the city's independent Ethics Commission, expected to begin next month, will be televised and open to public comment. The Board of Supervisors is still working on ground rules for public access to its proceedings. Nine of the eleven supervisors would need to vote Mirkarimi out of office.
World's Largest Cargo Ship Docked in Oakland
The largest cargo ship ever to enter San Francisco Bay, or any seaport in North America for that matter, is docked at the Port of Oakland. The MSC Fabiola passed under the Golden Gate Bridge shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday. It's almost a quarter mile long --or about four football fields. A dredging project funded by national stimulus money is helping the port accommodate larger ships able to carry more boxes of goods.
