BART

BART Police Auditor Mark Smith started his job at the end of June, just in time for a major test of his political and investigative skills. He's now looking into the recent fatal shooting at San Francisco's Civic Center station. In that incident, two BART officers responded to a report of a drunken man on the platform, and shot and killed a man later identified as Charles B. Hill.

Mark Smith came to BART from Chicago, where he was a senior official with the city's Independent Police Review Authority. Host Cy Musiker talks with Smith about the incident, and about how he's begun his investigation.
