The San Jose City Council has just adopted a budget that closes a projected $115 million deficit. But as KQED's Rachel Dornhelm reports the pain in the spending plan involves cutting 500 positions.

Democrats in the state Legislature say they will send a budget to Governor Brown tomorrow. The budget plan does not include new tax revenues, which were blocked by Republicans.
