Alameda Will Train Firefighters in Water Rescue
After harsh criticism over a controversial drowning, the City of Alameda says it will send 16 firefighters for swim-rescue training starting next week. The City Council announced that last night, after reviewing last week?s presumed suicide of Raymond Zack off Crown Beach. Mayor Marie Gilmore said she wants an independent investigation.
Stanford Hospital Expansion Moves Forward
Stanford University officials are rolling up their sleeves to meet a summer construction goal on their hospital expansion project. The plan will add more than a million square feet to the university's hospitals and allow for more modern, comfortable patient spaces. Stanford capped a four-year quest for Palo Alto's approval of the massive project on Monday night.
