Charcoal Park
Oakland's Charcoal Park Closing
An unusual community center called Charcoal Park in Oakland?s Fruitvale neighborhood will have to shut its doors next week. The space houses Shirley Everett-Dicko's collection of African American folk art, historical items, and antique housewares, as well as a teaching garden. But she hasn't been able to make the space a money maker.
