Yudof Warns Proposed State Cuts Will Harm UC System
UC President Mark Yudof says the state's proposed budget cuts are reducing the university's options for survival. Governor Brown wants to cut half a billion dollars in state funding. Meanwhile, the UC Regents are discussing another half billion dollars in costs from pensions and rising utility bills. At yesterday's regents meeting in San Diego, Yudof warned that the 10 campuses may have to layoff faculty and slash programs.

Oakland Mayor Jean Quan in Washington
Oakland Mayor Jean Quan is in Washington today after attending the state dinner for China's President Hu Jintao. Quan says she connected with China's trade delegation, which does business with the Port of Oakland. Today, Quan and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee are attending meetings with the U.S. Conference of Mayors and with White House officials.
