Oakland Residents Study Reduction of Police Bias
Oakland residents are looking for new ways to remove all forms of bias from local law enforcement. Last night more than 50 residents attended a symposium on what's known as "bias-based policing." Suggestions included better training for officers, increased accountability. and protecting officers who report misconduct.

Menlo Park Mayor Being Replaced
Menlo Park's newly appointed mayor will be replaced today, due to possible violations of state law. The City Council chose member Kelly Ferguson to be mayor this week, but Ferguson had discussed the vote with some of her colleagues beforehand. That violates the Brown Act, a state law that requires lawmakers to do business publicly.
