Oakland Suing Mehserle Verdict Looters
The City of Oakland is suing four people arrested for looting and vandalism while protesting the Johannes Mehserle verdict. The city will use video evidence from the unrest that followed the verdict. Mehserle is a former BART police officer was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for fatally shooting Oscar Grant on New Year's Day 2009. He faces up to 14 years in state prison when he is sentenced next Friday.
