Groups Protest North Oakland Gang Injunction
Oakland community groups are planning to rally at noon today in opposition to gang injunctions requested by police. The injunction, issued in June, prohibits gang members in a North Oakland neighborhood from hanging out in public, recruiting, or carrying guns or drugs. The groups who are rallying say the measures promote racial profiling and stigmatize people who need rehabilitation and other assistance.

Tesla to Develop Powertrain for Toyota's Electric SUV
Tesla Motors has signed a multimillion-dollar deal to help build an electric version of Toyota's RAV-4. The San Francisco Business Times reports the $60 million deal includes developing the powertrain for the new SUV.

Tommie Smith Puts Olympic Medal Up For Sale
The former San Jose State runner known for making a Black Power fist at the 1969 Olympics is selling his gold medal. Tommie Smith shocked the world alongside bronze medalist John Carlos when they bowed their heads and raised their black-gloved fists as the National Anthem played. Smith has also put his running spikes up for auction.
