Investigators on Trail of Suspected National Guard Fraud
The Sacramento Bee reports that federal auditors and criminal investigators are looking into allegations that the California National Guard improperly--or illegally--handed out as much as $100 million in recruitment incentives and retention bonuses. The inquiry centers on a master sergeant who was in charge of disbursing funds for 60 different bonus and incentive programs. Host Stephanie Martin discusses the case with Sacramento Bee reporter Charles Pillar, who broke the story.
