Forum Discusses Social Needs of Minority Males
Community leaders will meet in Los Angeles Tuesday to discuss the social needs of men and boys of color. Attendees will focus on health and social issues that disproportionately affect minority young males. Speakers will include Angela Glover Blackwell, founder and CEO of the Oakland-based advocacy group PolicyLink.
HP Wraps UP 3Par Purchase
Hewlett-Packard has wrapped up its contentious purchase of Fremont-based 3Par. The San Francisco Business Times reports that HP ended up paying $2.35 billion. HP fought doggedly with its chief rival, Dell, to acquire the cloud computing and data storage company in a bidding war.
Silicon Valley Companies named in Department of Justice Settlement
Some of Silicon Valley's major players are named in a settlement from the U.S. Department of Justice. The agency said it has proposed a settlement in a deal where Apple, Intel, Intuit, Adobe, Google and the Walt Disney Company -- which owns Pixar -- are accused of making a deal to not raid each others' workforces to hire away top talent. The companies have not confirmed or denied the claims, and have paid no fines in connection with the settlement.
