Policing in the YouTube Age
Another BART arrest has made YouTube. On
Saturday, a BART police officer responding to complaints
from passengers pulled Michael Joseph Gibson off a train
at the West Oakland station. The officer, whose name has
not been released, then pushed Gibson toward a glass and
concrete wall. Gibson's hand shattered the thick glass,
injuring both Gibson and the officer. Those details are
available because another passenger posted a video of
the incident on YouTube. So how will police adjust to a
world where every citizen is a watchdog?
