Repair Work Continues on Bridge, CalTrans' Image
CalTrans officials say the Bay Bridge will likely stay closed through the weekend. Construction crews are now waiting for new steel plates to strengthen an earlier repair on a cracked eyebar, a critical support structure on the bridge's eastern span. But CalTrans has to do more than patch the bridge -- it also has to fix its tattered reputation with the public.
