Oakland BART Station Shooting Follow-Up
More developments today in the follow-up to the
shooting death last week of Oscar Grant at an Oakland
BART station. Police are out in force in downtown
Oakland, and businesses there sent workers home early
this afternoon, fearing a repeat of last night's riot.
Meanwhile, Oakland Police and the Alameda District
Attorney's office said they are setting up a parallel
investigation into the shooting, along side the
investigation underway by BART police. Two state
lawmakers say they will introduce a bill forcing BART to
create an independent oversight body for the transit
police force - something it has lacked since its
creation in 1957. Host Cy Musiker talks about the
shooting and the follow-up with Golden Gate University
Law Professor Peter Keane, a former Public Defender and
Police Commissioner.
