Some San Bruno residents are concerned about returning to their homes and are raising questions about toxic substances in the ash, and whether they'd be breathing in fire retardant that was dumped to contain the blaze.
"I'm concerned about my children," said resident Kathy DeRenzi. "They're older children, but they are really stressed. They don't want to live there."
The city allowed people to return to 294 houses that were damaged Sunday afternoon. Many local residents gathered at the Skyline College.
